National Blue Ribbon School Award
On September 30, 2014, U.S.Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, announced that Fort Loramie Elementary School is a recipient of the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. This is a very prestigious award that the students, staff, and community should be very proud of.
The National Blue Ribbon School Program was developed by the former Secretary of Education, Terrel H. Bell, named by President Reagan. Bell created the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 1982 to bring public attention to the best schools in the United States and to facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Every year the U. S. Department of Education seeks out and celebrates great American schools, schools demonstrating that all students can achieve to high levels.
This year, the U.S. Department of Education awarded 337 schools with the National Blue Ribbon Award. There were 287 public schools and 50 private schools nationally recognized, with the breakdown being 25 K-12 schools; 239 Elementary Schools, 25 Middle Schools, and 48 High Schools.
Ft. Loramie Elementary School will be recognized for their academic excellence in Washington D.C. on November 10-11, at the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Awards Banquet. At the banquet, we will receive our National Blue Ribbon banner and plaque to proudly display in our school.
The National Blue Ribbon School Award affirms the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, families, and community in creating a safe and welcoming school where students learn and master challenging content.
The administration would like to thank the teachers, staff, and students for their dedication to teaching and learning each and every day. This commitment to academic excellence has not gone unnoticed by the community, the state, nor the U.S. Department of Education.
Fort Loramie Elementary School would like to thank the parents and community for their support in the education of our youth and in helping our school be a great place to learn.
