U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 356 schools as the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups. Fort Loramie Junior-Senior High School, was one of those 356 schools, and of 14 schools from Ohio to receive the National Blue Ribbon School award in 2024 (Exemplary High Performing Schools).

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.

State Assessment Accomplishments

Staff, Students, Parents, and Community:

I am both honored and humbled to report on our district's remarkable accomplishments on the statewide assessments. Fort Loramie Schools achieved exemplary rankings as a district and at the building level.

As a district, Fort Loramie Local tied for 6th out of 865 school districts regarding their performance index. Additionally, the individual building rankings further underscore the depth and consistency of excellence throughout the district. The elementary building was ranked 19th and the 7-12 building ranked 88th out of 3,342 buildings statewide.

These achievements place both buildings in the top 1% and top 3% of all school buildings in Ohio, respectively, demonstrating a remarkable level of educational quality within your district. This performance continues our expectation of academic excellence and indicates what is possible when a community supports the goal of high educational achievement.
This success is a clear indication of the unwavering dedication, rigorous academic standards, and innovative practices implemented by our teaching staff.

To the educators: Your expertise, passion, and tireless efforts have been the cornerstone of this success across all grade levels. Your ability to elevate your students' performance to such heights is a clear indication of your exceptional teaching practices and dedication.
To the students: Your intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and work ethic are the basis for these achievements. Each of you has not only met but also exceeded the high standards set before you. Your performance has placed your school among the elite educational institutions in Ohio.

To the administrators: Your leadership has created an environment where excellence is not only encouraged, but also expected at all levels. You have been an integral part of our success, which has culminated in top-tier statewide rankings within your buildings.
To the Board of Education, parents, and community members: Your unwavering support and engagement have been instrumental in fostering this academic excellence. These district and building achievements are as much yours as they are the schools'. This confirms the importance of a strong partnership between home and school. These rankings are not just numbers; they represent countless hours of hard work, innovative thinking, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that is expected in our community.

As you bask in the well-deserved glow of these accomplishments, I encourage you to view them not as a culmination, but as a springboard for even greater achievements. The potential you have demonstrated across all grade levels is limitless, and I have no doubt that you will continue to push the boundaries of educational excellence.

Sincerely,
Daniel B. Holland, Ph.D.
