I am excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year. I know that the staff members and I are looking forward to another successful year at Fort Loramie High School. Last year, we were designated as one of the State’s 5-Star Buildings, and we hope to uphold that designation and build on those achievements moving forward.
While a lot of excitement and change is occurring on our property with the construction of the Redskins Training Center (RTC), our focus we continue to be in the classroom. To encourage college and career readiness, along with student academic achievement, this year we will implement a new process to highlight student success and we will honor students each quarter of the school year with rewards for their efforts. To help in providing student rewards, we will look to reach out to area partners and businesses to see if they want to assist in this recognition.
Another new change for this upcoming school year, will be the tracking of your child’s attendance. Previously, excused absences did not count toward a student being “chronically absent,” the term the state has for students who miss a sizeable amount of school. Now, due to new laws, any absence will count toward a student reaching this undesirable designation. Therefore, please know, while your child’s absences may be excused, it does not eliminate you or them from tiered responses or consequences we have to provide, if enough absences have occurred.
Along with the change in attendance, we will once again follow the new state law in having student use of cell phones be a point of emphasis. The policy we implemented last year will continue, and your child will be expected to have their device turned off, put away, and not distract the learning process. Students will still be able to use their device in-between classes and at lunch (as well as before and after school).
As a reminder, all annual forms are to be completed through Final Forms before the school year begins. These forms allow your child to participate in all the opportunities we offer, and attend all educational options that occur outside our walls, so completion of this online paperwork is essential to your child’s experience at FLHS.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our Open House on August 17th, and seeing your child at the first day of school on August 19th. If there is anything we can do to help assist in your child’s success, or strengthen our partnership to maximize the performance of your student, please let us know.
